(Part One) A Tranquilizer You Were Born With The Roots of Anxiety — Hypnosis

Unless you are a very unusual person, you have periods in your life when you feel anxious. Everybody does. There is no escaping that, and, actually, you shouldn’t want to, because anxiety is a necessary part of the human warning system. When something hazardous is coming down the road, anxiety is what tells you it is time to head for the ditch until the danger passes.

For some people, however, anxiety is not just a now-and-then thing, but a chronic state of mind. That is where hypnosis and hypnotherapy namely anxiety treatment can prove to be powerful tools.

Now, in some cases, chronic anxiety is genetic; some people are simply wired to be more reactive than usual. In most cases of chronic anxiety, however, the anxious person has been taught, by family or by experience, to feel that way.

For some people, the roots of anxiety lie in a traumatic experience that occurred in their lives—either directly to them or to a loved one.

Let’s say you have children, and one of them is badly hurt by an aggressive dog. It would be natural after that to be cautious around dogs, but in your case you become phobic. Every dog you see frightens you. Eventually, you can’t even bring yourself to visit friends who have dogs.

Or perhaps you were in a really dreadful auto accident, and afterwards, you discover that you are afraid to drive on the road where the wreck occurred, and over time you find yourself afraid to drive at all. Then one day you can’t make yourself get into any car, and ultimately not even able to leave the house.

Some children catch the anxiety bug from a parent, who raise them to believe that the worst will always happen, that if anything can go wrong in life, it will. And, as small children are wired to believe what their parents tell them, they grow up to be afraid.

Some people, sadly, grow up in toxic families, where they are exposed to constant criticism and ridicule, where the parental mantra is “How dumb can you be?” of “Who told you to think?” That stays with them as they become adults.

We’ll go on with this in our next blog wherein I will also discuss given anxiety treatments in Gold Coast.
